How does Pony League work?
In Pony baseball, players are put into divisions by age groups of two years. They start in T-ball which is for 3 & 4 year-olds, then move up to Shetland division for 5 – 6 year olds, Pinto division for 7 – 8 year olds, Mustang division for 9 – 10 year olds, and so forth.
Is Pony better than Little League?
With players of only two ages involved, as is the case with PONY baseball, it is far easier to permit every player to play more positions since the difference in skills within the age groups is not that great….PONY vs. Little League.

How many innings are in Pony baseball?

PONY League games shall be seven innings in duration. When a game is tied at the end of regulation length, extra innings may be played until time limit expires. If after time limit the game is still a tie it shall remain a tie.
Is Shetland a T Ball?
Shetland Division Shetland baseball is played with T-Ball style rules, all players bat and field each inning. This division is open to players ages 4-6 as of August 31st. The emphasis of this division is on learning the basic baseball skills.
How far is the pitcher’s mound from home plate in Pony League?
The pitching machine shall be located approximately 38 feet from home plate (46 feet in MUSTANG 10U™). The pitcher shall take position, always to the rear of the pitching machine, and on the left or right side with one foot on the dirt portion of the mound.

Can you lead off in Pony baseball?
Lead-offs are okay from all bases. A dropped third strike (with less than 2 outs) is a live ball and the batter may attempt to gain an unoccupied first base. If there are 2 outs and the 3rd strike is dropped, the batter may attempt to gain either an occupied or unoccupied first base.
Can pony wear metal cleats?
These bats are NOT ALLOWED. Metal cleats are NOT allowed in the Pinto and Mustang division. Metal cleats are allowed in Bronco and Pony division.
