How does art change over time?
From a chemical point of view, time really does change art. Mediums darken, some colours fade and the support material adjusts. The biggest change is that we the viewer are placing on the art piece. Sculpture may be physically worn away by our caressing, leaving the intended platina polished back to a different colour.
Why we need art in our lives?
Art documents events and experiences and allows us a richer understanding of history. Art reflects cultural values, beliefs and identity and helps to preserve the many different communities that make up our world. Art chronicles our own lives and experiences over time.
