Do cigar boxes have dates?
The most important information as it relates to quality, I believe, is the date stamp on the bottom of the box. The code, in Spanish abbreviations for the months, is something like “ENE18.” This stands for January 2018. ENE is short for “enero,” or January. The numbers indicate the year.
What is the box called that you put cigars in?
A humidor is a storage container that is designed to help maintain a relative humidity level, which is critical for cigars because the tobacco leaves in them will naturally expand and contract based on the relative humidity of the air around them.
Should I keep cigars in plastic in humidor?
Once you’ve bought the cigar and are placing it in your humidor, we recommend you remove the cellophane. Cellophane will prevent humidity from reaching the cigar, and you’ll find the cigars will respond to humidification better if the overwrap has been removed.
Should I store my cigars in the wrapper?
Having the wrapper on the cigar preserves the freshness and delays the aging. Everyone loves a well-aged cigar and if that is what you’re going for it might make sense to remove the wrapper and carefully store them in your humidor until they are ready.
Are cigar boxes humidors?
No, a cigar box is simply the container that holds your cigars, although some may be well manufactured, they’re usually made of wood or cardboard – they aren’t made well enough to offer any significant amount of humidity control for your cigars.
What is the average size of a cigar box?
Nearly every national cigar brand was forced to follow suit. Cigarillo boxes are inevitably cardboard roughly 4” x 5” and vary little in size from brand to brand.
How often should you season your humidor?
one to two times a year
If you live in a dry climate or experience seasonal dryness, we recommend re-seasoning a wooden humidor one to two times a year.
