Are cheap saxophones any good?
Most cheap saxophones play surprisingly well — almost shockingly well (even with their mouthpieces). For what they cost, they don’t sound half bad over the whole range, and they play in tune. However, I think the sound difference between a cheap saxophone and a professional saxophone is pretty clear.

The Woodwind and Brass and Bauhaus Diatribution websites have gone and the eBay shop is empty. I managed to contact Martin a couple of months ago but not since. A shame I liked the saxes and found Martin helpful.

Are pm saxophones any good?
The factory that likely is the one PM branched off from years ago also makes excellent, excellent saxophones. They are a bit brighter than PM, generally, with a slightly punchier core but also a slightly less “smoky” character.
