How do JROTC ranks work?

ROTC ranks are based on their military classes. Freshmen enter the program as a cadet private, advises Northern Arizona University. The class leader holds the rank of cadet private first class. As sophomores, cadets attain the rank of cadet corporal, with the class leader holding the rank of cadet sergeant.
