Is Ayleids a Altmer?
The Ayleids, also known as the Heartland High Elves, Heartland Elves, Saliache, or Wild Elves, were a race of elves who ruled over Cyrodiil in the first era. Their appearance was said to have been lighter than that of a Dunmer, but not as pale as that of the Altmer. They had varied skin tones from light tan to bronze.
Are there any Ayleids left?
There have been no known sightings in the Third or Fourth Eras. Much like how the ruins of the lost Dwemer dot Hammerfell, Skyrim, and Morrowind, the Ayleids have left ruins scattered around Cyrodiil and other regions which were once under the dominion of their Empire.

Ayleid(s) means “Wild Elves” or “Heartland High Elves” or whatever you prefer to address the elves of Ald Cyrod with. Although “Wild Elves” is probably a name that arose after their fall from power.

Most of the Ayleids had turned to Daedra-worshipping, but the few that still worshipped the Aedra joined Alessia and her army. After the war, Alessia had a few Ayleid advisors, but after her death, they were all but exiled.

The Ayleid kings who aligned themselves with the rebellion were largely Aedra-worshipers, which in part explains why, once the Ayleids were overthrown, Queen Alessia incorporated the leading Elven Aedra into the First Empire’s worship of the Eight Divines.

Their faces were likely thin, with pointed ears and almond-shaped eyes. The Aldmer skin tone was probably the same pale yellow as the Altmer, perhaps slightly more pronounced. One popular source of speculation on Aldmer appearance comes from the Tribunal, the three living gods of the Dunmer on Morrowind.

Maormer are also known to breathe underwater like the Argonians and used this to launch surprise attacks on Altmeri ships.
