How long does Warticon take to work?
Most patients find their warts disappear after 4 weeks, but some patients need to apply the treatment for longer. If warts still remain after 4 weeks of treatment, contact us via your Patient Record or see your GP.
What does Warticon solution do?
Warticon contains a medicine called podophyllotoxin. This is a plant extract which belongs to a group of medicines called ‘antivirals’. Warticon is used to treat genital warts. It is used for warts on the foreskin of the penis in men or external warts on the vagina in females.
Does Warticon turn warts white?
During the course of treatment, Warticon’s reaction with your warts may cause them to turn pale or even white before they peel away and leave healthy skin. This is no cause for concern.
How do I apply Warticon solution?
How do I use the treatment? Wash the affected skin with soap and water before treatment and dry thoroughly. Use an applicator to apply the solution directly to the warts twice a day (morning and evening) for 3 days and then stop treatment for the next 4 days.
Can you use Warticon everyday?
Apply a thin layer directly to the warts twice each day for 3 days. Then don’t apply it for the rest of the week. If the warts are still there the next week, then do the same. You can keep going like this for 4 – 5 weeks as long as the warts are still there.
How long should I use warticon solution for warts?
You only need to treat the skin while you have warts. Once the warts have gone you should stop the treatment. You can use Warticon solution for up to 2 weeks, or longer if the warts are getting smaller but are not quite gone.
What is the active ingredient in warticon?
The active ingredient in Warticon (podophyllotoxin) belongs to a group of medicines called ‘antivirals’. It’s applied directly to the warts and works to burn away the affected tissue. If your warts cover an area larger than a 2-pence piece (or a postage stamp) we may not be able to prescribe you Warticon.
How do you use warticon cream?
The affected area should be thoroughly washed with soap and water, and dried prior to application. Warticon should be applied twice daily, morning and evening (every 12 hours) for 3 consecutive days. The treatment should then be withheld for the next 4 consecutive days. Application to the surrounding normal tissue should be avoided.
Is it safe to have sex while using the warticon solution?
Warticon Solution is not recommended during pregnancy or in women of childbearing potential not using contraception (see section 4.6). It is recommended that patients refrain from sexual intercourse while treating warts with the solution and until the skin has healed.
