Can you thermoform polycarbonate?
Polycarbonate thermoforming is a method of manufacturing that involves heating the plastic to a soft, flexible state, then fitting it around a custom mold or tool to create a desired shape. Because of the pliable nature of polycarbonate, we can use three methods of thermoforming, depending on the needed product.
Can polycarbonate sheet be vacuum formed?
We are special in thermo forming polycarbonate sheet either transparent or opaque.
Can you vacuum form Lexan?
When it has sagged down a few inches you should then push the plastic over the form and hit the vacuum.
Can you guillotine polycarbonate?
Marlon polycarbonate flat sheet can be guillotined up to approximately 4mm thick. The success of this type of cutting will depend to a very large degree upon the condition of the guillotine blade and block.
Can you bend Lexan with a heat gun?
Position a heat gun above the Lexan about 2-3 inches from the surface. Tighten down the Lexan with a clamp so it is secure to the table. Turn on the heat gun and move it side to side across the Lexan. Move it closer, but do not touch it against the Lexan and do not stay in one place too long or it will burn the Lexan.
At what temperature does Lexan become pliable?
between 155oC and 165oC
Usually, at between 155oC and 165oC, the heated region becomes pliable enough to be bent to the desired angle.
